A sorrowful plea
O Muslims, be reminded of the day on which we will be asked why we didn’t do something, why we didn’t even feel pain or shed a tear while our ummah was suffering and being butchered right before our eyes.
If nothing else, please cry and pray, please, you owe it to them….
Wa alaikum assalam
Because sincerity is the most important aspect of any act, Islam places a great emphasis and reward on giving charity in secret. Allāh (swt) says, “If you disclose (acts of) charity, it is good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you…” Quran [2:271]
RasoolAllāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that one of the seven groups of people that will be granted shade on a day that there is no shade except the shade of Allah’s throne, is “a man (or woman) who gives charity and hides it, such that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given…” [Bukhari, Muslim]
However, we’re taught that Allāh (swt) wants us to do good publicly as well—while maintaining sincerity—in order that we may encourage others towards good as well.
Allāh (swt) says, “Those who (in charity) spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” Quran [2:274]
So we do both, while also making sure our intentions are always pure.
And Allah knows best. May He increase us in generosity and sincerity.
There are no terrorists hiding behind the hundreds of innocent civilians killed in Gaza, but it is behind your civil and civilized face, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu, that hides a terrorist.
